Women’s Bible Study: A “Sisterhood” in Christ
A core group of women at St. Anne’s meet monthly to discuss their spiritual journey with its detours, challenges, U-turns, and smooth travel. The experience we have is similar to the experience of people in the Bible. I am encouraged by the faith of St. Paul, Peter, and the disciples, and the teachings of Jesus. I am also encouraged by meeting regularly with wonderful women committed to following Christ.
What has meant so much to me over these 5+ years is that the group is a "sisterhood" of Christ. We care about each other, we pray for each other, and we are there for each other. This connection to a smaller community is a blessing in my life, because it meets an emotional and spiritual need.
For example, I was feeling much stress at my job this past winter, and I could not come to the women's bible study, because I wanted to talk to my boss about my stress. As the leader of the group, I hesitated to ask for help, but then realized, I needed prayer and support like anyone else. I was so touched by the love, prayers, and support of the group. It meant a lot to me to be cared for, and I will never forget it.
With gratitude,
Jo Tetlow, St. Anne’s Women’s Bible Study Leader
